    Hi,

Do you have a ZIP/GZ file with all the Escoitar.org software pre-packaged?

I know it is based on SPIP but I’m really not a great programmer of SPIP :)

Thanks in advance for you kind attention.

    Best.

  • Contact: hello & airplanes

    30 January 2009 08:33, by gilles aubry

    Dear friends from escoitar

We met briefly at the presentation workshop you gave in madrid last october. I was on tour with my set using field recordings from berlin backyards. I was really impressed by the range and quality of your activities with escoitar.

I’m carrying a small research on the perception of airplanes sounds for my MA at the University of Arts in Berlin (UDK). This is not a research on noise pollution, but rather on how the presence of airplanes in the sky changes the perception of one own’s body and environment.

I believe that the experience and listening skills of the members of escoitar could be very helpfull for my purpose and therefore I invite those who are interested to answer the questions below. (please reply directly to my email adress : gilaubry@web.de and don’t hesitate to ask for clarifications if necessary.)

Many thanks in advance and with the hope to meet you again !

    Questions

    - Describe situations (everyday or particular) in which you pay attention to the sound of airplanes flying over you.

    - What thoughts & memories do the hearing of these sounds stimulate ?

    - How would you describe such sounds, their variations & motions ?

    - How do such experiences transform your perception of the surrounding space & architecture ? (here I mean especially how space, architecture & topography becomes more ‘audible’ through reflections of airplanes sounds, also if the sounds define new acoustic spaces temporarily)

    - How do you perceive your own self (body & mind) in relation to the space created and revealed by the sounds of airplanes (here I mean a transformation of the sensation of ‘emplacement’, of bodily presence, increased spatial awareness or even ‘spatial diseases’ like claustrophoby)

    - Subsidiary question : Do you often travell by plane ?
